Method’s Heroic Highmaul Raid

IMG_6179

Well that could have gone better.

Just as several million people tried to log into World of Warcraft servers, a very serious, very coordinated DDoS attack hammered Blizzard. Plus, wait queues of hours, thousands of people still trying to log in. There’s anger, and understanding. Some people are already Level 100, and some have set to set foot into the Warlords of Draenor content.

Screw it. I can’t even get to my computer for another week. You hear that Blizz? You’ve got about six more days. Work that shit out.

Let’s think about better times. Hey, remember Blizzcon 2014? That was fun. I followed it on Twitter and even that got me stoked. I watched some of it live on my phone, when I could. I missed Method taking on Midwinter in the Live Raid. In a recently posted video, Method’s guild leader Rogerbrown explains how they tore up the speed run on Heroic Highmaul and did Midwinter dirty.

You might as well watch it. It’s not like you’re going to be playing WoW anytime soon.

Blizzcon 2014 Fallout – Overwatch

The big reveal at Blizzcon 2014 came out of the blue. I think many were expecting an announcement of an expansion for one of the current intellectual properties. No one was expecting the announcement of a brand new IP, especially after the demise of Titan. Titan fell, and from its ashes rose the phoenix that is… Overwatch.

Bellular Gaming does a great job in giving an overview of what to expect. They had live versions to play at Blizzcon, and between that and the Overwatch merch people were sporting, the game is a success before it even hits closed beta testing.

Blizzcon 2014 – Looking For Group

To help celebrate their ten year anniversary at Blizzcon 2014, Blizzard released a documentary entitled “Looking For Group“. The video discussed the history of World of Warcraft, the developers who created the world, and the players who interact with it as well as with each other.

Blizzcon 2014 Opening Ceremony Announcements

Oh. Right.

Since my Virtual Ticket is shitting the bed (or, more accurately, my iPhone) I’m relying on Twitter to update me.

So far:

Mike Morehaime addressed GamerGate and tells the players to take back the community with understanding and tolerance.
Heroes of the Storm will have a closed beta January 13th. It will include Thrall, Jaina, Karina, and the Lost Vikings.
Hearthstone will have a new engineering expansion – Goblins vs Gnomes – which will launch next month!
Starcraft will have a new addition to the family: Legacy of the Void. It will be a standalone game, no previous expansion required.
– Blizzard announced Overwatch, their new IP. Team based shooter.

So far, so crazy! Blizzcon 2014!!

Conan At Blizzcon 2013

In a perfect world, I would be annoying the Hell out of everyone by hashtagging and live tweeting about my journey to Anaheim, and the glory that is Blizzcon 2014. Instead, I am leaving home for two weeks while I am on standby for work. If there’s a silver lining to be had, it’s that I will be able to watch the live stream after work (is it live if I’m watching the recording?) on my single-bar reception iPhone.

I do so look forward to this.

I do so look forward to this.

I’m sure I’ll miss out on quite a few things, but such is Life. Last year at Blizzcon 2013, I missed out on Conan being Conan. At least I can relive the experience through Youtube.

Who knows what kind of gong show I’ll be missing out on this year. Guess I’ll find out next year, on Youtube!
