WoW Tokk – Dragonflight Addons and UI

Hey, did you know that World of Warcraft has a new expansion? They do! It’s called Dragonflight, and as you might suspect, it is all about Dragons! A flight of dragons, you might say!

Editor’s Note – This has no relation to the 1982 animated classic The Flight of Dragons starring none other than James Earl Jones and the late John Ritter. Damn, that was a great movie and amazing cast.

Over the past few months, you may have noticed that I have not posted much along the lines of World of Warcraft content. That’s because I let my subscription lapse just before Dragonflight was released in November (Nov 28, 2022). Great timing, right? I had been playing just to earn enough gold to purchase additional months of subscriptions, but my mojo fell off a steep cliff. I had to decide where to put my spare time – World of Warcraft or the Pathfinder RPG. As you can tell from my posts, the TTRPG beat the MMORPG.

However, I have not gone to scorched earth with WoW. Despite not having an active account, I continued to ensure my addons were up to date just in case I got the itch to start playing again. As luck would have it, the WoW PVP and real-live swolverine, Bajheera posted his preferred addons and UI setup for Dragonflight 10.0. I’ve followed his guidelines in the past (both for World of Warcraft and fitness/workouts), so when I saw his video, I knew I had to check it out.

Not gonna lie – this may have been the motivation I needed to resub and try out the new expansion. He won’t see this, but just in case… thanks, Boss.

Enjoy his video!

WoW Tokk – No Touch Fishing

I haven’t played World of Warcraft in weeks and have no desire to do so now (yes, even with the pre-patch stuff going on). However, if I log in, you can be damn sure I will be fishing. Patch 10.0 had some nice quality-of-life fixes, and this is one I’ve wanted since Burning Crusade. Thanks to Kraken Latte for bringing this to light!

WoW Dragonflight Initial Thoughts

My first reaction after seeing the announcement was that “the Mists of Pandaria vibe is strong in this one.”

  • New Race/Class.
  • Revamp Talent Tree.
  • No BBEG threat was announced.
  • Island being revealed after being hidden away for ages.

Overall, my initial feeling is that this is a filler expansion. No big story development, but some mechanical changes like the new UI and the aforementioned talent tree(s) that will take some getting used to. Best not to throw too much at players right off the bat. Oh, and let’s not forget where the Dracthyr Evokers fit in.

Yes, this is a generalization based on a pinch of information. I don’t know any of the histories of the Dragonflight. But what I do know is that on launch day, people are going to play with the pretty dragon people and many will not ever use them again. I know these talent trees are supposed to offer customization and flexibility, but the Google search for “best talent tree/spec tree” will go through the roof. Most people, the casual folk, won’t spend time playing around with trees. They’ll look for one or two, copy them, and use them. The Icy Veins website exists for this very reason.

At the end of the day, Blizzard still hasn’t shown us everything the expansion involves so poo-pooing things are a bit premature. There are plenty of draconic big bads that could show up, and from the few spoilers I’ve read, I’d be stoked to see them. Shadowlands has existed for me to farm gold. Hopefully, Dragonflight offers more because if it turns out feeling more like MoP, this could be my last expansion. Mists of Pandaria bored me to the point where I left the game for an entire year. If I get that feeling from Dragonflight, I’m done.

Easy Pet Battles in WoW

gggg

You may read the title of the above video and think “c’mon, pet battles aren’t rocket science.”

My reply would be “shut up.” Also, “watch the damn video.”

The video, from the mind and talent of Kraken Latte, really puts pet battles on cruise control. Why would someone want such a thing? Well, maybe you’re new to pet battles. Maybe you’re just trying to get through them ASAP. Maybe you’re having trouble coming up with the best combo and rotation to get through these battles.

Five minutes after watching this video, I was wrecking face in new and interesting ways. Thanks, Kraken!
