Preparing for Leveling in WoD

uphill

In just over a month, November 13th to be exact, Warlords of Draenor will be going live. Once again, we begin the slog to level cap. Since most of us have multiple alts, that grind will be hammered out multiple times. Oh joy.

Good times.

Good times.

I’m none too thrilled about leveling, and even less that I’ll be doing it at least twice. But as far as my first run to 100 goes, I’m planning on taking steps to ensure that the start of the grind is as painless as possible.

  • Fill up on Daily Quests – The second Warlords of Draenor goes live, everyone will be crawling over each other to reach the starting zones for WoD. Those zones are going to be packed with people. You’ll be fighting zone lag as well as other players while you fight for the same quest mobs and items. Instead, just before WoD goes live, I’m going to grab as many MoP daily quests as I can and complete them. I just won’t hand them in. The, when WoD becomes active, I’ll hand in all of the MoP quests. That way, by the time I start on WoD content I’ll have an XP advantage on others who just started out in the zone.
  • Clean Up My Bags – I’m going to make sure I have plenty of space for quest items and so on. I’ll bank unnecessary gear and items, and have the largest bags I can get my hands on. There’s no telling what kind of quest items or potential transmog gear that lay ahead.
  • Load Up On Consumables – Every second of down time is a second wasted. Max level buff food, healing and mana pots. Even top shelf bandages will help.
  • Load Up On Rested XP – I still do this out of habit, but it’s never to early to start building up rested XP. I haven’t read anything where the rested xp is going to be reset. Free XP buff is nothing to sneeze at.
  • Grab A Leveling Guide – I know this can be controversial. People generally frown on paying for things outside the game. But I’ve used a leveling guide for the past three expansions and it really takes the sting out of the leveling process. Honestly, I’m just here for the XP. I don’t care about interesting questlines. If they’re that good, I’ll spend more time on them the second (or third, or fourth, or fifth) time through.
  • How are you getting ready for the push to 100?
