Blizzcon Blitz

It’s been said that muscle has a memory.  Sadly for me, my muscles would rather remember not being in shape and would love nothing more than to revert to that as soon as I miss a couple of gym days.  I’ve been dealing with a dodgy cold bug that’s been going around, and decided to rest and recover.  Stupid muscles.  Stupid body.

I can’t afford to be sick.  In a few short hours I’ll be waking up at some early ungodly hour, dragging myself to the airport, dealing with the wonderful folks at customs, flying halfway across the United States, switching planes, flying across the rest of the country, praying my luggage didn’t get lost, dealing with LA traffic, getting squared away at my hotel, then walking to the Anaheim Convention Center and standing in line for a few more hours to get my Blizzcon pass.  I’ll be doing everything by myself, so it’d be great if I could get all of that done without dragging my ass any more than I already will be.

Hopefully things will go well.  I mean, going to Anaheim by myself, not knowing a soul in the city.  What’s the worst that could happen?

Not shown above – missing kidney.

I feel like I should apologize in advance to the poor soul seated beside me on the plane.  Well, planes.  I can guarantee that I will be asleep for the flight(s).  I may even snore.  I will have my headphones on, and you will not be able to wake me.  The stewardess may have to get a sky marshal to poke me with something pointy or gun-like to rouse me from my slumber.  It’s going to be a long day, and a longer night, so I need my rest.  I don’t know where you’re going, but I doubt it will be more entertaining that my destination.

Unless you’re going to Blizzcon and the number of meet-ups that follow.  If you are, you should know better than to try and wake me.  In fact, you should probably get some sleep as well.  Also, deodorant.

Yes, as busy as Thursday is going to be, Thursday night’s schedule is looking pretty full.  For starters, I have a guild meet-up that I’m planning to attend. When you’re in a guild that has the population on the dark side of seven thousand characters, it’s interesting to see a few of the faces behind the pixels.  Despite the relatively small number of guildies actually making the trek, there’s still going to be close to a hundred people showing up.  Who knows?  Maybe I’ll hit it off with a few of them and find that “social” thing that people seem to like to talk about.

Thursday night is also the night of the WoW Insider meetup.  Last year they had members of The Guild in attendance.  Felicia Day won’t be able to make it this year, but they have a number of other people coming.  They also have prizes that they’ll be giving away.  However, the lack of Matthew Rossi takes a bit of the luster off the event.  You will be missed, Mr. Rossi.

Friday Night is another big night.  The Twisted Nether Blogcast is having their event, within staggering distance of my hotel (yay), and that one promises to be off the chain.  Check out some of the folks who will be in attendance –

  • Me
  • A bunch of other, really cool people.

Amongst all of that, hopefully Blizzcon Over Beers with the Rawrcast crew.

Over the course of the weekend, I should make it to a Blizzcon panel or two.

Glass Balance over Class Balance, am I rite?

Saturday Night will probably be the most exciting night for me, and it has nothing to do with Tenacious D.  Jack Black is hit and miss with me, and I’ve liked maybe one Tenacious D song enough to get it on my iPod.  Balancing that against UFC 121, which will be going on just down the road at the Honda Center, and there’s no contest.  Violence wins.  It’s going to be a strong card, culminating with Brock Lesnar defending the UFC Heavyweight Title against Cain Velasquez.  Nerd magnet by day, violence monger by night.  I can’t help it – I’m a man who defies definition.

And I defy steroid testing.

This is Herculano, getting the last few hours of sleep I’ll have for the next few days.  What are YOU doing for Blizzcon?
